Micro-Generation
We can provide a range of micro-generation options for home-owners and developers, installing single systems, or combinations of systems, bespoke to a site and the environmental aspirations of its users.
berwickshirelimited’s established micro-generation systems include:
Solar
- passive and active sun spaces - capturing solar gain to provide a ‘cushion’ of warmth between indoors and out
- photovoltaics - generating electricity from solar energy
- thermal - freeze-tolerant solar water-heating
- solar slates – award-winning design using latent heat to provide heating and fresh air within a building – developed with Napier University
- Coming soon! A full ‘Solar Roof’ is currently in development – expected to produce around 15,000kW/hrs of solar-thermal a year. Watch this space for more details…
Air
- whole-house ventilation systems – can improve air quality and make best use of solar gain by moving warm air to cooler parts of the building
- domestic-scale turbines – we have turbines on some of our own properties, and can deal with fixing systems and roof-strengthening in new buildings to make them ‘green-energy ready’
- air-sourced heat pumps - can be supplied and installed, with one of our partners, to use air as a solar-collector for heating water
Earth
- ground sourced heat pumps (GSHP) – with partners, we can supply and install GSHP to suitable properties to use the earth’s latent heat to provide domestic and underfloor heating
